MARGARET'S HOPE
Description
Inaugurated in 1864, this magnificent garden full of romance rises to nearly 2,000m in altitude. Nourished by the pure flowing waters of two rivers, the centenary tea plants flourish along the steep sides of the valley facing the peaks of the Himalayas, surrounded by forests and wildflowers. One of the most celebrated and emblematic gardens of Darjeeling.
Dried leaves: Like a delicate sketch poised between mist and light, the leaves unfurl a landscape imbued with Impressionist nuances. Silvery buds trace a constellation of luminous highlights, interwoven with shades of celadon green and subtly weathered rosewood tones.
Infused leaves: From the warmed leaves rises a distinctive fragrance, where the softness of tender nougat intertwines with the bright zest of pink grapefruit peel. A note of candied tamarind enriches the composition, lending it a character that is at once indulgent and delicately tangy.
Liquor: Golden and radiant, the liquor reveals a lively brilliance marked by bright citrus accents, underpinned by the comforting richness of stewed rhubarb. Smooth and beautifully balanced on the palate, it unfolds notes of almond biscuit, lingering gracefully alongside a discreet touch of guava. The tender radiance of spring.
Preparation: 2.5g in 20cl of spring water at 95°C for 3 minutes.
Cold brew:
1 - place 15g of tea in 1 litre of spring water and refrigerate for approximately 12 hours,
2 - filter out the leaves then let the liqueur come to room temperature,
3 - best served in a large balloon glass, filled up to a third.
"Cold brew", a slow infusion in cold water, allows for a further exploration of the infinite aromatic palette of this grand cru. The cold allows new fragrances to express themselves in a dazzling and utterly intoxicating way.
Presented in a Mariage Frères black pouch.
