CASTLETON MAGIC
Description
Nestled in the vicinity of Kurseong, the « City of the White Orchid », Castleton has been one of Darjeeling’s most famous gardens since 1885. Enjoying an exceptional terroir, the planter passionately refines his methods so as to perpetually improve the quality of these harvests. The tea bushes planted at the beginning of the golden age of tea are the subject of special attention in order to bring out their aromatic quintessence which makes for the remarkable identity of this excellent garden. An ode to the senses and to pleasure.
Dried leaves: This grand cru reveals the magnificence of the high-altitude plantations in a striking contrast: the leaves in deep shades create a noble backdrop where numerous bright silver buds shimmer, like sparkling jewels on black velvet.
Infused leaves: The infusion reveals a palette worthy of a master jeweler: precise touches of emerald green punctuate a luxurious score of tourmaline and brown jasper. This colourful arrangement, twinkling with reflections of the red moon, evokes the guava trees in bloom and the majestic mango trees that adorn the edges of the tea gardens, where the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis draw the complexity of their aromas from this generous terroir.
Liquor: Clear and brilliant, this exceptional liqueur exudes a subtle aroma of walnut cake finessed by a hint of orange blossom pollen. The cup offers a full and velvety texture, unleashing notes of golden honey with an ascending accent of blackcurrant. The finish, marked by a fine warmth of cinnamon bark, gives this tea a distinctive elegance akin to a stroll at dusk among century-old tea
plants ablaze in the last rays of the sun.
Cold brew:
1 - place 15g of tea in 1 litre of spring water and refrigerate for approximately 12 hours.
2 - filter out the leaves then let the liqueur come to room temperature.
3 - best served in a large balloon glass, filled up to a third.
"Cold brew", a slow infusion in cold water, allows for a further exploration of the infinite aromatic palette of this grand cru. The cold allows new fragrances to express themselves in a dazzling and utterly intoxicating way.
