DJ52/2016 - Premium Tea Estate
Darjeeling Summer Flush
Jungpana, which means « the shelter of the world », is one of the most outstanding gardens in Darjeeling. Nestled in the district of Kurseong, it offers fresh and airy teas exemplified by this prestigious cru. This esteemed, impressive tea is the fruit of a historic collaboration with the planter on a confidential parcel situated over 1,400 meters in altitude. Mariage Frères presents this Summer Harvest 2015, a world premiere issued from a truly magnificent setting.
Dried leaves : The silver buds and the young, mahogany leaves are rich with a tonality akin to a candied longan infusion and prune cream, followed by an aroma of invigorating hawthorn jelly.
Infused leaves : Frosted terracotta in appearance, the leaves expand with a deliciously sweet and intense bouquet of pure white gardenia. Once slightly cooled, fruity hints of loquat sorbet and fresh hazelnut are unleashed.
Liquor : Elm burl copper. The rich aromatic field spirits us toward Balsam of Peru and candied pineapple. The exhilarating cup starts with an expression of tilleul honey, joined by a sensation close to dark cocoa spiced with mace, deliciously nostalgic. The seemingly endless finale is signed with a note of chypre which asserts itself cup after cup.
Grandiose and irresistible.
