Darjeeling Summer Flush
This plantation is the oldest one in Darjeeling and was created the very same year as Mariage Frères : in 1854. It is also the most eminent one (111 hectares at a height of 1 890 m), where the slopes of Himalaya meander between India, Nepal and Bhutan).
Usually lost in clouds and mist, this garden was as briefly as miracously bathed by the sun, uncovering Mount Kanchenjunga, the third highest moutnain in the world, just when Mariage Frères’ tea taster chose the batch that had been offered this summer : a blessing from the gods ?
Leaves : classic, large and long, twisted, deep brown with a nice quantity of silver buds, they are regularly rolled
Nose : deep fragrance, lightly spiced
Liquor : amber gold, the fruity attack is complex : ripe grape with sweet jackfruit develops to full round wood and arachid (roasted cashew nuts and hazelnuts) notes. The finish unveils a zesteful edge.
A must-be-discovered for its harmony and long finish.
