Mariage Frères breaks with all the codes and introduces The French Art of Tea to the hushed and confidential world of Pu-Erh; a privileged relationship with the planter has brought forth a ‘Suprême’ harvest and a meticulous imperial tea. Like the rarest of Cognacs, the best harvests issued from reserved parcels are married together to create the jewel of the already unique and extravagant collection of Pu-Erh available on the Mariage Frères tea menu. <d> Dried leaves:The young leaves, elegant and golden, release a profusion of noble fragrances evoking black truffle wet with morning dew, the flowery-scented wood of the cocoa tree, and roasted chestnut. Infused leaves:Blazing amber. The infused leaves evoke a reverie of a forest walk surging with the aromas of autumn, joined by captivating notes recalling an antique mahogany humidor and a dash of musky Cologne. Liquor Pale gold. The infusion is delicate, dense and rich with a myriad of fabulously seductive and enchanting notes. The graceful prelude of a bouquet of lotus, persistent and perfumed, is followed by a sweet and subtle dash of cinnamon. A frank and layered heart note of fern and iris diffuse with vanilla and tonka bean before ascending in a soft, zesty finale. Heavenly and virtuous.

MILKY BLUE®
Seductive Blue Tea™
with a rich milky note
TB2319 - 23 €
Buy
../images/T2/TB2319.jpg
Set aside
Made with the utmost respect for the traditional methods specific to grand Blue Teas™, the youngest leaves of this quality tea are picked early in the morning, when the fragrances of the plantation blend with the colours of dawn, then worked one by one and rolled, before being suffused with an elegant milky vapor. Dried leaves : The gently rolled, deep green leaves recall a pleasing and comforting fragrance of melted white chocolate joined by a wispy hint of gianduja gracefully carried by a note of ‘panettone’ from the Piedmont. Infused leaves : The first aromas are clearly held together by exotic fruits, a tad tangy like passion fruit and round like ripened lychee while an enveloping note recalling coconut rice manifests, deliciously gourmand. Liquor : Opalescent orange. A natural link between terroir and the cup: the nose of the liquor is a perfect reflection of the leaf (dried and infused). Delicate notes of candied chestnut and creme patissiere charm the palate, caressed by the cup’s milky, supple texture. An ode to eternal pleasures.

Mariage Frères expands its collection of jasmine tea, deliciously avant-garde and already one of the best in the world. Prosperous China of the Song dynasty is the cradle of jasmine tea. Dried leaves: A luminous green tea with nuances of hibiscus flower, jasmine fragrance and a wisp of vanilla. Infused leaves: Gold riddled with jade. A note of toasted gingerbread mingles with moist peony petals. Liquor Golden orange. A final taste is embraced by an elegant jasmine flowers from China. Sensually yours! Jasmine tea by Mariage Frères Our jasmine tea is scented according to a time-honoured tradition. Plucked at dawn, thousands of delicate jasmine flowers are layered into the tea leaves and buds. The dry tea thus absorbs all of the heady, natural fragrance from the fresh flowers. This melding is repeated several times so the essence suffuses the heart of the tea. Between perfuming, the tea is dried again so that new, freshly plucked flowers may impart more aroma. After giving up all their delicious jasmine scent to the tea, the dried flowers are then carefully collected by hand, one by one. The all-natural jasmine tea is finally ready to be enjoyed. *non-binding photo <img src="../images/jardin_premier/bloc_jardin_premier_en.gif" width="480" height="auto" alt="Label Jardin Premier"

Legendary tea reputed to be « monkey-picked » Mariage Frères presents the newest harvest of the rare and famous Taïping Houkui. This ultra-refined tea produced in small quantities is reputed to be harvested by monkeys on tall tea plants swaying in the dancing breeze of protective mists. Nourished by the pure waters trickling down from the snowy mountain peaks in the heart of lush vegetation, the young buds are plucked by hand then gently placed on bamboo racks to be carefully heated over warm embers. This unique savoir-faire imparts an exceptional taste to this « King of Green Teas » and reveals the bright and vibrant colours of the leaves. Welcome to a halcyon world of excellence. Dried leaves : A genius play of handcrafting protects the fragile, lunar-coloured buds and the bright emerald leaves. A light fragrance of poppy flower is unleashed, followed by an air of fresh hazelnut. Infused leaves : Frosted emerald, the infused leaves express a fruity variant of candied white currant and pink grapefruit sprinkled with drops of bamboo water. Liquor : In a lily-yellow robe shimmering gold, the liquor engulfs the palate with the delicacy of flowing silk. The cup is metered by the addictively fresh notes of liquorice, green guava and candied angelica. Joined to this rich complexity is an elegant perfume of camellia seed, crowning the ensemble with astonishing floral poetry. KISSED ORIENTAL BEAUTY
Blue Tea™ - Jardin Premier*
China
T2323 - 49 € / 100g
Buy
../images/T2/T2323.jpg

Mariage Frères discovered this Blue Tea™ during a trip to the magnificent province of Guizhou, in the southwest of China. In the heart of this mountainous isolated terrain – almost 1,200 metres in altitude – grow centenary tea trees nourished by abundant rain and a perfect temperature all year round. The singular quality of this tea resides in the natural, mini-oxidation of the young tender leaves caused by a small insect hungry for tree sap. Natural juices are therefore liberated from the leaves, imparting a gourmet touch to the liquor.

At an altitude of a thousand meters in the mountainous region of Yunnan, where the clouds form a last bulwark between the earth and the sky, not far from the border with Laos, this confidential garden continues the ancestral tradition of long-fermented tea. First shaped by the hand of man and then entrusted to the love of time during its maturation phase, this millesime reveals a few of the secrets of this emblematic terroir. Dried leaves: A majority of young shoots with a dark hue of pine bark make up this plucking, illuminated here and there by a few copper-tinted buds. A bouquet accented with autumn undergrowth unleashes notes of fern, moss and walnut shell. Infused leaves: The warm leaves exude generous aromas of almond and fresh walnut. Liquor: Dense and rich, the color resembles that of a fully ripe chestnut. The rim of the cup opens to the light with reflections of rose gold and copper, offering a warm fragrance of chestnut cream. The extremely velvety liquor entirely envelops the palate with an impression of walnut honey and nougat.

Cultivated at the top of Tian Mu Mountain, 1200 meters above sea level in the Long Gang region, this famous Pei Hou tea is characterised by its beautiful tender golden-green leaves, subtle aroma and mild flavour. The picking is carefully done by hand and only once a year, in the spring. A harvester needs more than a day just to obtain one kilogram of this famous tea. The processing of the leaves is also entirely done by hand, according to ancestral traditions. Accessible only by foot, after more than 5 hours of climbing, the crates of tea must leave the garden on the same way, thus beginning their long journey. A majestic tea. Dried leaves: The young shoots are shaped into long, unbroken needles, which sport a beautifully matte shade of celadon green punctuated with the silvery touches of the buds. nfused leaves: The bouquet is bright, round and reassuring, blending the aromas of bamboo resin, raw peanut and medlar compote. Liquor: As limpid and brilliant as green amethyst, the liqueur is like a bamboo forest in spring: full of freshness and life. It exudes the fruity sweetness of green nashi and the liveliness of candied rosehip. Supple and balanced with incredibly right texture, the liqueur plays its fruity score on the palate for a long time.

Mariage Frères enhances its collection of jasmine teas, deliciously avant-garde and already among the finest in the world. The prosperous China of the Song Dynasty is the cradle of jasmine tea and whose spirit remains alive in the plantations on the coastal islands of Fujian. The privileged relationship between Mariage Frères and the planter has served to honour a millenary savoir-faire; the association of an « imperial harvest » with jasmine flowers yield an irresistible masterpiece, rare and nuanced. Dried leaves : The most extraordinary Yin Zhen are carefully plucked by hand, one by one, and delicately dried to sublimate the aromas hidden in their silken dress. Tender to the touch like cotton flower, as luminous as precious diamonds, the silver tips mingle among the jasmine petals frosted with vanilla. Infused leaves : Jade streaked with pure white. A jasmine veil of a thousand flowers melts, bit by bit, into a fragrance evoking lavender honey joined by a wave of swirling, precious perfume. Liquor : Bright vermilion. The cup’s gourmet body ascends in a citrusy wake as fragrant as an orchard of wild tangerine. Its tasting is a hymn to flavour: gentle frangipani flowers blend with rose water, seducing the most demanding of aesthetes. An enchanted snow. Jasmine tea by Mariage Frères Our jasmine tea is scented according to a time-honoured tradition. The heady and gourmet notes of roasted apple and apricot form a resolutely fruity score behind which a veil of lemon glaze tiptoes in the background, refreshing and unexpected. This unforgettable moment continues with an exceptional lingering in the mouth, thanks to a supple, round and silky liqueur. Imperial beverage.

Mariage Frères introduces the French Art of Tea to the closed and confidential world of Pu-Erh. Shaking up the codes once again, our privileged relationship with the planter has yielded a completely unexpected harvest. Just like the rarest Champagnes, the best harvests issued from specially reserved parcels of land are graded making this unique cru worthy of its place in our one-of-a-kind Pu-Erh collection. Dried leaves: The ashy, ebony leaves exhale a fresh fragrance of wild mallow and wet volcanic rock. Infused leaves: An exquisite bouquet of ginger torch blends with horn of plenty mushroom Liquor: Shimmering wenge. Delicately earthy undertones yield to nuances of candied cherry coated in raw cocoa. This precious Jardin Premier® green tea, issued from Hubei province, is fragrant with divine jasmine flowers. The cup is enchanting and refined. A heavenly elixir Jasmine tea by Mariage Frères Our jasmine tea is scented according to a time-honoured tradition.

KISSED BLUE TEA®

Mariage Frères discovered this Blue Tea™ during a voyage to the magnificent province of Guizhou, in the southwest of China. In the heart of this mountainous isolated terrain, almost 1,200 metres in altitude, grow centenary tea trees nourished by abundant rain and a perfect temperature all year round. The singular quality of this tea resides in the mini-oxidation of the young tender leaves caused by the natural intervention of a small insect hungry for tree sap. Natural juices are therefore liberated from the leaves, imparting a gourmet touch to the liquor. Dried leaves: The partially oxidised leaves with blueish nuances and downy buds unleash a fragrant bouquet of peony and shortbread. Infused leaves: Imperial green. The leaves release a hint of blueberry jam enlivened with a dash of rosewood. Liquor: Luminous amber. A note of fresh resin blends with delicious white peach, punctuated by waves of brown caramel. Blue Romance.

In the north of Fujian province stand the famous Wuyi Mountains, whose vertiginous peaks carve out a green landscape bathed in mist. On their steep slopes grow some of the greatest 'rock teas'. This 'Divine Orchid' tea, a literal and poetic translation of its Chinese name, is one of those blue teas whose deep oxidation offers new adventures in flavour. Dried leaves: The whole leaves sculpted like curlicues are marked by a long oxidation, giving them a shade of ebony. Infused leaves: A floral brume mingles with the gourmet scents of golden marzipan. Liquor: The infusion in the shade of brown jasper reveals a rich nose of brioche and brown butter. A round and warm flavour of toasted pecan is expressed generously and persistently in a liqueur with perfectly balanced texture.

Made with the utmost respect for the traditional methods specific to grand Blue Teas™, the youngest leaves of this quality tea are picked early in the morning, when the fragrances of the plantation blend with the colours of dawn, then worked one by one and rolled, before being suffused with an elegant milky vapour. Dried leaves: The deep green leaves are rolled like pearls, blended with finely cut blue flowers. Infused leaves: Long and beautiful leaves unfurl during the infusion and reveal a seductive floral fragrance, mixed with a scent of fresh walnut. Liquor: Each infusion reveals a captivating new shade of blue. The perfume of the liqueur skilfully passes from tones of white flowers to more full-bodied and gourmet ones like white praline. Please consider: The blue liqueur teas (Marco Polo Blue, Opera Blue, Thé Bleu des Légendes, etc.) owe its signature blue colour to the presence of finely chiselled blue flowers. Sometimes these blue flowers fall to the bottom of the tin. As this is a 100% natural product, the beautiful shades of blue may differ depending on the type of infusion or harvest, varying from pale to deep blue. Before any infusion, we suggest tightly closing the canister then shaking it a few moments so as to distribute the chiselled blue flowers more evenly throughout the tea. *Non-binding photo.

This early Chinese green tea is the very first of the year. The young shoots are transformed, repeatedly heated in woks between stages of withering and resting in large bamboo baskets, first at high heat then at low heat, and always sifted by hand to maintain perfect homogeneity. The flat leaves crafted in the shape of a 'sparrow's tongue' are the hallmark of this legendary and emblematic tea, among the best in China. Dried leaves: Tender and beautiful young shoots in beautiful celadon green, as flat as the tongue of a sparrow. Infused leaves: Rich bouquet with the fresh scent of bamboo resin and white peony, slowly revealing notes of green mango jam and cashew nuts. Liquor: Pleasantly surprising with an expressive, bewitching scent of candied mango and red berries, the liqueur fills the cup with a beautiful shade of pale gold and jade green reflections. « Silver Needles », the height of perfection in white tea. The so-called ‘imperial’ plucking is done exclusively by hand on just two days of the year, when only the finest young buds are selected. The marvellous leaves of Yin Zhen resemble needles covered by silvery tips, and yield a crystalline, pale mandarin liquor with the subtle, fresh fragrance of buds. It is the most glamorous and costly white tea on earth.

« Red Gown », called Da Hong Pao on Wu Yi Mountain where it is grown, is extremely rare. A tiny estate on a steep slope with sandy soil near a spring provides the tea bushes with morning sun but protects them with cool afternoon shade. The tender buds with red reflections thus benefit from ideal conditions, enhancing all their qualities. Just after picking, leaves undergo a bold oxidation that releases a highly woody taste specific to the soil. Its thick, concentrated liquor and its grand aroma, halfway between chestnut and hazelnut, last long in the mouth. A masterpiece envied by connoisseurs the world over, it has been valued since the Ming dynasty for allegedly favouring a long life.

This ‘gold’ Pu-Erh was the authentic, precious tea of Chinese tribes under the Song and Qing dynasties. Only the young buds are chosen, carefully plucked early in the year (February), before the rainy season starts, when they are still fine and covered with down. With its elegant, golden leaves, this rare Pu-Erh is never packaged as a compressed tea. Its liquor is deep red, dense yet mild with a scent of lotus and a slightly sweet taste. Aromatic and aged, it represents the height of refinement. It also boasts beneficial and soothing qualities.

For the first time ever, Mariage Frères has combined a red-coloured Pu-Erh grown on the high misty plateaus of Yunnan, referred to as the land of eternal spring, with the flowers of Camellia Sinensis. The dense and sustained aroma of mossy earth and tea tree bark, together with the intense fragrances of the soil, merge with the fresh and fine wildflower scent. It creates a striking and original contrast in grain and finesse and yields a liquor that invades the palate and gives lasting aftertaste pleasure.
