NAMRING UPPER MAGISTRAL
Description
« Tea from beyond the skies »
The celebrated garden of Namring was created in 1855 by the British. Cultivated at 1,525 meters in altitude, this cru is harvested from an absolutely magnificent and prestigious parcel of land. Ample sunlight and pure water from the Himalayas provoke the formation of tasty buds and hence the crafting of this grand millésime. The remarkable character of Namring’s terroir and the admirable work of the planters associated with the unique savoir-faire of Mariage Frères give rise to a rich splendor of lunar velvety shades.
The ‘Darjeeling Nouveau’ Collection, created by Mariage Frères: an early-bird special, this tea is delivered from the tea garden to the cup.
Dried leaves: High above the Namring garden, the first rays of spring stir tea bushes still shivering from the winter winds. Their long, whole, and eagerly awaited young shoots reveal a craftsmanship of remarkable delicacy. A generous proportion of downy buds brightens the harvest with soft, edelweiss-coloured hues.
Infused leaves: The aroma opens with the spirited brightness of passion berries, soon softened by the ripe flesh of a Bengal apple. Around the warm leaves unfurls a fruity dance of succulent mirabelle and lychee, lifted by a light note of candied elderflower.
Liquor: Golden buttercup in colour, the liquor shimmers with sunlit sparks. From the cup arise notes of wildflowers mingled with the fruity accents of longan and mangosteen. Then magnolia takes graceful command, leaving on the palate a luminous floral imprint, like the nectar of tender blossoms.
Preparation: 3.5g in 20cl of spring water at 95°C for 5 min.
Cold brew:
1 - place 15g of tea in 1 litre of spring water; keep in the fridge for about 12 hours,
2 - filter out the leaves then let the liqueur come to room temperature,
3 - best served in a large balloon glass, filled up to a third.
"Cold brew", a slow infusion in cold water, results in a further exploration of the infinite aromatic palette of this grand cru. The cold allows new fragrances to express themselves in a dazzling and totally intoxicating way.
