Description
In the 12th century, south of Kyoto, then the imperial capital, the Uji region bore witness to a flourishing tea culture that would soon conquer all of Japan.
Its exceptional terroir along with the savoir-faire of its dedicated planters have earned its green teas their worldwide reputation.
This tea from a garden located in Wazuka has been cultivated for almost half a century using methods that respect the environment and its biodiversity, thus sharing a love of nature with Mariage Frères.

A grand cru, Sencha Wazuka – imbued with sweetness and subtle umami richness – leaves an unforgettable impression on the palate.
Dried leaves: Beautifully fine and slender, the needle-like leaves shine with an imperial green luster and luminous emerald nuances.
Infused leaves: Beyond the first invigorating notes of a slightly crumpled yuzu leaf, a fruity hint of gossamer white currant precedes the sweetness of peony scented under the morning dew.
