THE HISTORY OF THE EMBLEMATIC
NOËL TEA
It all began in 1660, when at the request of King Louis XIV, Nicolas Mariage left for the Orient in search of spices. Over the years, a veritable family dynasty developed around tea, vanilla, chocolate and spices.
In 1860, Nicolas Mariage's great-grandson, Henri Mariage, created and patented Chocolat des Mandarins, an absolutely unprecedented combination of two commodities he knew well: chocolate and tea.
At the same time, other blends of tea, chocolate, vanilla and spices were being experimented with by the Mariage family. Thus was born the family tradition of preparing a tea with festive spices (cinnamon, apples, oranges, almonds) for every Christmas.
This secret recipe, reserved for the Mariage family, was passed down from generation to generation, until 1984, when the famous Thé Noël was offered to Mariage Frères customers for the very first time.
It was an instant success, and the recipe continues to travel the world today!
