Nestled in the vicinity of Kurseong, the « City of the White Orchid », Castleton has been one of Darjeeling’s most famous gardens since 1885. Enjoying an exceptional terroir, the planter passionately refines his methods so as to perpetually improve the quality of these harvests. The tea bushes planted at the beginning of the golden age of tea are the subject of special attention in order to bring out their aromatic quintessence which makes for the remarkable identity of this excellent garden. An ode to the senses and to pleasure.

<b>Dried leaves:</b> Elegant buds and fine leaves make up a landscape of colours akin to a forest bathed in sunlight, where the play of light and shadow unveils dazzling greens with amber moiré.

<b>Infused leaves:</b> They offer an opulent and fruity bouquet of infinite pleasures where persimmon and ripe pineapple are the major accords.

<b>Liquor: </b> Bright with life, golden with copper highlights, the liquor enchants with a very expressive nose of lychee and guava. Its rich, perfectly balanced texture delicately and slowly reveals an unforgettable fruity aroma.

<b>Cold brew:</b>
1 - place 15g of tea in 1 liter of spring water; keep in the fridge for about 12 hours. 
2 - filter out the leaves then let the liqueur come to room temperature.
3 - best served in a large balloon glass, filled up to a third.

"Cold brew", a slow infusion in cold water, results in a further exploration of the infinite aromatic palette of this grand cru. The cold allows new fragrances to express themselves in a dazzling and totally intoxicating way.

<i>In the north of Vietnam, the province of Yen Bai is famous for its breathtaking landscapes featuring green mountains sculpted by rice fields whose terraces hug the winding hills. It is also the cradle of many indigenous communities for whom traditions are deeply rooted in daily life. Since time immemorial, the native peoples have been picking the leaves of centuries-old wild tea trees rooted in the fertile soil of the misty mountains. An authentic matured tea, a return to the land and to nature.</i>

<b>Dried leaves:</b> Long and splendid whole leaves whose slow maturation imparts a brown shade of colour like snakewood.

<b>Infused leaves:</b> Notes of oak and moss transport you to a forest after the rain, mingling with the aroma of banana leaf.

<b>Liquor:</b> The infusion reveals a shade of mahogany with sublime garnet reflections. Its concentrated scent evokes an aroma of forest floor misted with dew, spiced with a hint of delicately crumpled pepper leaf. This rare tea comes from the region of Guria, at the foot of Mount Bakhmaro, not far from the Black Sea. This long forgotten garden is surrounded by a forest of centenary acacia trees which nourishes and protects the land. The harvest is realised once a year, in May, and produces only a few kilos of meticulously selected leaves. Delicately oxidized before leaving the atelier, Mariage Frères is proud to present this hidden treasure.

<b>Dried leaves:</b> The leaves are astoundingly beautiful: downy matte ebony, they unleash a perfume of agarwood, fresh liquorice, energizing cardamom and smooth cocoa truffle.

<b>Infused leaves:</b> Precious obsidian. A fragrance of storm swept volcanic rock blends with a gourmet note of fresh date and an intense hint of camelia.

<b>Liquor:</b> Coppery gold. A magnificent score of iris and black cherry structure the tasting while a note of brown sugar and myrtle berry merge perfectly together. The finale is sinfully delicious, evoking an intense mousse au chocolat noir with zesty tonka bean.

A sensuous journey to Southern Africa.

For generations, a family plantation known for the quality of its teas sits nestled at 1,150m in altitude, in a territory with infinite natural resources, sustained by a climate marked by the rainy season from November to March. Local tea plants well-adapted to this unique Terroir produce artisanal harvests rich in flavour; the young leaves, delicately harvested by hand, are quickly crafted in the estate’s atelier into this particular tea.

<b>Dried leaves:</b> The handsome whole leaves shine in amber and acacia and emit a sweet fragrance evoking luscious pound cake married to an invigorating aroma of Bengal quince.

<b>Infused leaves:</b>  Azure-gleaming celadon, exhaling a scent of ripe Mirabelle and a fresh bouquet of cedar forest.

<i>This garden, one of the oldest in Darjeeling, was created the same year as Mariage Frères in 1854. The tea plants, lovingly pampered for over 160 years, still produce one of the best crus of Darjeeling. With its 176 hectares at 2,100m in altitude, where the slopes of the Himalayas wind their way between India, Nepal and Bhutan, this is the closest garden to Darjeeling Town.</i>

<b>Dried leaves:</b> The young, whole leaves and their shimmering spring-green moiré hue mix and mingle with many golden buds.

<b>Infused leaves:</b> The exhilarating bouquet of wild berries and fresh walnut turns to a sweet note of ripe apple-cinnamon.

The parcels of tea in the Namring garden, created in 1855 by the British, belong to Jhinglam and Poomong at 1,220 and 1,370 meters in altitude. The remarkable character of the Namring Terroir as well as the combination of the planter's admirable work coupled with Mariage Frères' unique savoir-faire give birth to this splendid tea with myriad aromatic nuances. <br>

This Darjeeling Nouveau, an exclusive Mariage Frères creation, has been released early, fast-tracked from the estate to the cup. <br>

<B> Dried leaves: </B> Sublime composition of whole leaves hand-crafted into fine twists. Their green tourmaline hue contrasts elegantly with the pearly white shimmer of the numerous buds.<br>

<B> Infused leaves:</B> A forthright and gourmet aroma of green fig jam escapes from the depths of the infused leaves. The fruity score is prolonged with succulent notes of candied mango and fresh watermelon. <br>

<B> Liquor: </B> The crystalline liquor colours the cup a soft yellow of clivia flowers, its edge haloed by a few jade green reflections. A voluptuous and sensual fragrance blends scents of linden honey with a dash of vanilla. The soft and balanced structure reveals the lively and sparkling fruitiness of pink grapefruit. The pride of a grand domain.  <br>

Tea from beyond the skies: an extraordinary Darjeeling Nouveau. <br>

<B>Cold brew :</B>
1 - place 10g of tea in 1 liter of spring water; keep in the fridge for about 12 hours,
2 - filter out the leaves then let the liqueur come to room temperature,
3 - best served in a large balloon glass, filled up to a third.
<br>

<i>« Cold brew »</i>, a slow infusion in cold water, results in a further exploration of the infinite aromatic palette of this grand cru. The cold allows new fragrances to express themselves in a dazzling and totally intoxicating way.

Made with the utmost respect for the traditional methods specific to grand Blue Teas™, the youngest leaves of this quality tea are picked early in the morning, when the fragrances of the plantation blend with the colours of dawn, then worked one by one and rolled, before being suffused with an elegant milky vapor.

<b>Dried leaves :</b> The gently rolled, deep green leaves recall a pleasing and comforting fragrance of melted white chocolate joined by a wispy hint of gianduja gracefully carried by a note of ‘panettone’ from the Piedmont.

<b>Infused leaves :</b> The first aromas are clearly held together by exotic fruits, a tad tangy like passion fruit and round like ripened lychee while an enveloping note recalling coconut rice manifests, deliciously gourmand.

<b>Liquor :</b> Opalescent orange. A natural link between terroir and the cup: the nose of the liquor is a perfect reflection of the leaf (dried and infused). Delicate notes of candied chestnut and creme patissiere charm the palate, caressed by the cup’s milky, supple texture.

The tea bushes planted at the beginning of the golden age of tea are the subject of special attention in order to bring out their aromatic quintessence which makes for the remarkable identity of this excellent garden. <b>Dried leaves:</b>  A careful plucking of young green shoots with magnificent pearly white buds.

<b>Infused leaves:</b> Splendid floral expression with notes of water hyacinth and white peony. A fragrance of tender fruits gradually expands, diffusing joyful notes of lush Mirabelle plum and bright watermelon.

<b>Liquor:</b> The liquor, golden like spring honey, reveals a captivating floral bouquet with a sparkling and gourmet nose of candied citrus peel. Lively, silky and perfectly balanced, this cup of Castleton floods the palate with beautiful umami notes recalling delicate white lily nectar. A prayer to flowery spring.

<b>Cold brew:</b> 1 - place 15g of tea in 1 litre of spring water; keep in the fridge for about 12 hours.

Apart from its unique taste, Opium Road tea is famed for its highly beneficial polyphenols and other antioxidant compounds that support general health and wellbeing.  The traditional methods of the Lahu tribe have been employed for many generations in growing this ancient variety of tea.  After harvesting the freshly plucked leaves, they are rolled and rinsed in boiling water then sun-dried on bamboo trays placed above an open fire which gives this tea its distinctively rich, smoky flavor.

This ultra-refined tea produced in small quantities is reputed to be harvested by monkeys on tall tea plants swaying in the dancing breeze of protective mists. Nourished by the pure waters trickling down from the snowy mountain peaks in the heart of lush vegetation, the young buds are plucked by hand then gently placed on bamboo racks to be carefully heated over warm embers.
