JAPAN - Green tea, smoked black tea, blue tea
Japanese tea, originally drunk by the Buddhist monks, was long the prerogative of lords and aristocrats.
There are many varieties of green tea in Japan but export is very limited, given strong domestic demand. The major growing regions are Shizuoka (which produces fully half the nation’s output), Miye, Kagoshima, Kyoto, Nara, Saitama, and Fukuoka.
