- Issued from a garden in biodynamic conversion -

North Tukvar or « Flame of fire » is one of the most famous gardens of Darjeeling from where one can admire snow-covered Kanchenjunga – the third highest mountain in the world. Throughout the years, the plantation has become a model for sustainable living by producing its own natural compost and installing a gravity-based irrigation system. The surrounding bamboo forests preserve the stability of this rich terroir full of exceptional century-old tea plants.

<b>Dried leaves: </b>Magnificent downy buds with their handsome reseda green leaves reveal notes of buttery shortbread and coconut.

<b>Infused leaves: </b>Once infused, the supple leaves offer fragrances of pomegranate syrup and roasted chestnut.

<b>Liquor: </b>Golden amber. The smooth liquor’s aroma, reminiscent of pistachio milk, is a pure joy. In the cup, a perfumed wave of orange blossom and Damascus rose dance with delicious notes of Reine-Claude plum jam.

The confidential garden of Nagri was created in 1857 by the British. Cultivated at altitude, this cru comes from a parcel of land reserved exclusively for Mariage Frères, in harmony with nature. Born on an excellent Terroir, the harvests are of an exceptional quality appreciated by aficionados seeking the finest Darjeelings. A lovely voyage to the heart of exquisite flavours.

<b>Dried leaves: </b>The silver buds and the young ashy leaves deliver a bouquet of precious incense and Bengal quince.

<b>Infused leaves: </b>A handsome deep green, the leaves reveal a gourmet accord of cacao bean and stewed plum.

<b>Liquor: </b>Beautifully golden, the liquor opens on an ethereal fragrance of banana flower rounded out by sweet notes of nashi pear. A saveur of warm brioche joined to a fruity note of roasted peach accentuates the tasting.

The garden of Singbulli (meaning « Refuge of the Lions ») spreads out to the west of Darjeeling in the heart of the fertile valley of Mirik. The most beautiful parcels selected for and by Mariage Frères extend up to the summits (almost 1,700 meters in altitude), amongst the picturesque monasteries and pure, crystal-clear lakes. Thanks to its hundred year old tea plants, this prestigious appellation bears exquisite harvests. An iconic must-have in the confidential world of premium teas.

<b>Dried leaves: </b>The young, emerald-coloured leaves and the pearly buds deliver notes of starfuit and cashew.

<b>Infused leaves:	</b>Imperial green. Hints of fragrant ivy mix with those of succulent damson plum bursting with aroma.

Our Kuki Hojicha is issued from a small, family-run tea garden in the charming Mie countryside, in the heart of the celebrated region of Kansai.
A high-quality Kukicha composed of fine Gyokuro twigs is exquisitely married to a delicious Hojicha made from the beautiful leaves of a Bancha after a gentle stove-top heating. Soothing and flavourful, this new tea can be enjoyed alone or accompanying meals, in the morning or in the evening thanks to its low theine content.

<b>Dried Leaves:</b> In beautiful matte mahogany, the leaves seduce with their perfume of roasted cacao blended with notes of liquorice and red caramel.

<i>Ambootia, or « Land of the mango trees », is one of the most famous gardens of Darjeeling in the foothills of the Himalayas. 
For over twenty years, this majestic plantation has been cultivated in complete harmony with this exceptional Terroir according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture, methods which have contributed to the fame of this prestigious appellation.</i>

<b>Dried leaves:</b> The fine, silvery buds mingle with handsome, luminous emerald green leaves and those with more mysterious shades of rosewood.

<b>Infused leaves:</b> A gourmet scent of black cherry precedes sweet, fresh tones of honeydew melon and cardamom flower.

<b>Liquor:</b> Sparkling gold, the liqueur exhales a silky fragrance of apricot and white peach. Its round texture finds balance with the lively, sweet notes of young Muscatel grape.

<b>Cold brew:</b>
1 - place 15g of tea in 1 liter of spring water; keep in the fridge for about 12 hours. 
2 - filter out the leaves then let the liqueur come to room temperature.
3 - best served in a large balloon glass, filled up to a third.

<i>"Cold brew"</i>, a slow infusion in cold water, results in a further exploration of the infinite aromatic palette of this grand cru. The cold allows new fragrances to express themselves in a dazzling and totally intoxicating way.

This early Chinese green tea is the very first of the year. High-altitude harvest where the legendary "Dragon Well" (literal translation of 'Lung Ching') teas originated, crafted between Lion’s Peak and West Lake in the coastal province of Zhejiang.

The rarity and exceptional taste of Lung Ching are the results of its unique terroir and the characteristic shaping of the leaves. The young shoots are transformed, repeatedly heated in woks between stages of withering and resting in large bamboo baskets, first at high heat then at low heat, and always sifted by hand to maintain perfect homogeneity. The flat leaves crafted in the shape of a 'sparrow's tongue' are the hallmark of this legendary and emblematic tea, among the best in China.

<b>Dried leaves:</b> Tender and beautiful young shoots in beautiful celadon green, as flat as the tongue of a sparrow.

<b>Infused leaves:</b> Rich bouquet with the fresh scent of bamboo resin and white peony, slowly revealing notes of green mango jam and cashew nuts.

<b>Liquor:</b> Pleasantly surprising with an expressive, bewitching scent of candied mango and red berries, the liqueur fills the cup with a beautiful shade of pale gold and jade green reflections. <b>Dried leaves: </b>	The silver buds and young leaves – princely green, slender and majestic – unleash a breeze of blossoming bamboo forest, delicately mingled with a gourmet wave of white meringue.

THE MOST PRECIOUS OF JAPANESE GYOKURO

Mount Fuji, about 100 km southwest of Tokyo, dominating the Japanese Alps overlooking the Pacific Ocean, is a sacred mountain for the Japanese. The Asahina River meanders along its steep slopes, irrigating a volcanic soil that offers exceptional qualities to the tea trees.

Our Gyokuro Suprême Asahina comes from a small family garden surrounded by forests and lovingly cared for by a couple of tea enthusiasts: the planter, recognised for over half a century as an expert in the art of treating the precious leaves of tea trees – to protect them from direct sunlight, he veils them in straw and with his companion only harvests at dawn – has specially created for Mariage Frères only – as the great painters of the past used to do – a masterpiece, in a very limited amount and of a quality never before attained.

<b>Dried leaves : </b>long and elegant, gleaming emerald green, accentuated by and glittering buds: unbelievably tender

<b>Infused leaves : </b>a fresh floral bouquet, supple and intense, remarkably elegant

<b>Liquor : </b>blue-green in colour – symbol of the Japanese Imperial Court – marked by a thick, velvety texture, full-bodied, supple with aromatic inflections that progressively intensify. Smooth and dense, it quickly entices the palate with the gourmet notes of biscuit, crème pâtissière, and warm brioche; floral buttercup rise up and provide a striking counterpoint. The whole is crowned by a long finale, sweet with a hint of red berries. The luxurious sensation, delicate and opulent, lingers indefinitely in the mouth.
