Please consider: The blue liqueur teas (Marco Polo Blue, Opera Blue, Thé Bleu des Légendes, etc.) owe its signature blue colour to the presence of finely chiselled blue flowers.
Sometimes these blue flowers fall to the bottom of the tin.
As this is a 100% natural product, the beautiful shades of blue may differ depending on the type of infusion or harvest, varying from pale to deep blue.
Before any infusion, we suggest tightly closing the canister then shaking it a few moments so as to distribute the chiselled blue flowers more evenly throughout the tea.

Made with the utmost respect for the traditional methods specific to grand Blue Teas™, the youngest leaves of this quality tea are picked early in the morning, when the fragrances of the plantation blend with the colours of dawn, then worked one by one and rolled, before being suffused with an elegant milky vapor.

Dried leaves : The gently rolled, deep green leaves recall a pleasing and comforting fragrance of melted white chocolate joined by a wispy hint of gianduja gracefully carried by a note of ‘panettone’ from the Piedmont.

Infused leaves : The first aromas are clearly held together by exotic fruits, a tad tangy like passion fruit and round like ripened lychee while an enveloping note recalling coconut rice manifests, deliciously gourmand.

In the heart of the Kingdom of Thailand, Mariage Frères has discovered a gift from nature; a wild tea tree hidden in the ancient lands of Opium in the Golden Triangle.  In this misty, mountainous region situated along the border of Burma and Laos, nature’s best conditions are reunited: an exceptional terroir at an altitude of 1,500 meters allows this tea tree to let its rich leaves express unique and exquisite saveurs.

Dried leaves : The tender leaves and young, elegantly twisted buds decked out in majestic volcanic livery exhale a smooth perfume of frangipani flowers wet from the monsoon, joined by exquisite notes of pink galangal.

Infused leaves : Luminous green streaked with garnet. Still warm, the leaves seduce with a gourmet note of praline followed by a fresh burst of rose water. Then from the leaves exudes a fruity-green score evoking freshly-picked starfruit.

A sensuous journey to Southern Africa.

For generations, a family plantation known for the quality of its teas sits nestled at 1,150m in altitude, in a territory with infinite natural resources, sustained by a climate marked by the rainy season from November to March. Local tea plants well-adapted to this unique Terroir produce artisanal harvests rich in flavour; the young leaves, delicately harvested by hand, are quickly crafted in the estate’s atelier into this particular tea.

Dried leaves: The handsome whole leaves shine in amber and acacia and emit a sweet fragrance evoking luscious pound cake married to an invigorating aroma of Bengal quince.

Celebrating its special relationship with the planter of this garden, Mariage Frères proposes the first Darjeeling 2018 summer harvest. In the heart of the lush Mirik valley the tea plants of Phuguri, planted in 1878, are protected by a forest of bamboo and nurtured by the Mahananda river. This jewel of A.O.P Darjeeling produces extraordinary teas whose best leaves are worked specially for Mariage Frères according to the principles of The French Art of Tea. At the dawn of summer when the heavy heat mixes with the nourishing rain of the monsoon, the youngest leaves and their first buds are plucked by hand, benefiting from all the richness of this exceptional Terroir.

This distinguished Shui Hsien (meaning « Water Sprite ») Suprême makes for a fantastic addition to our expansive Blue Tea menu. Issued from a parcel of land containing centuries-old tea bushes, this new tea is composed exclusively of young leaves harvested by hand. Once brought down to the family’s atelier, the leaves are worked according to a time-honoured tradition and generously oxidised then heated at high temperature. This choice cru is thus born, rare and generous, for a unique tasting of infinite pleasure.

Dried leaves: The young, slender and twisted leaves in shades of mahogany and ebony exhale succulent aromas of ginger caramel and candied jackfruit

Infused leaves: Sparkling carmine. A perfume of roasted chestnut and poppy flower candy.

Liquor: Coppery amaranth. Notes of black nougat and redcurrant jam combine in this silky cup. The soft, airy sensation of marshmallow dances with a hint of myrrh recalling subtle, eastern aromas.
